Kendall Jenner was at The Row runway show during Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday — but not as a model, as a fan.
She wore the American luxury brand anyway, of course, looking cleanly elegant in a sage green trench coat tucked into a black pencil skirt, with black loafers and a black bag. And most importantly, she looked practically anonymous, very rich and anonymous, which is The Row’s way. Kaia Gerber was also in the seats, taking in the show.
On the runway, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen don’t really need major models for attention because they can create a feeling with just clothes.
For spring 2024, audaciously simple draping and oversized tailoring, luxe layered T-shirt and tank dressing, beach towels thrown casually around the neck and the satin hotel slippers everyone will be wanting to wear come summer transported showgoers out of busy Paris, away to some fabulous seaside spa.

When fashion people talk about uniform dressing, this was it, but summer holiday uniform dressing, an all-in-one wardrobe of ease to take a woman from the salon to a beach walk (woven jelly shoes were also a trend-in-the-making), a Zoom work meeting to hosting a fabulous dinner party at home.
Tailoring was louche and loungey, with drapey black trousers and a sleeveless funnel neck top worn with a gold bracelet on the upper arm; a cream paisley evening jacket, silk pajama pants and a red cashmere robe that could have been borrowed from a beau, and a sensual white column gown wrapping the body like a D. Porthault bed sheet after an afternoon romp.
Overall, however, the biggest news is that this may have been the sportiest collection the Olsens have ever shown, full of lightweight trenches, Bermuda shorts, a twisted gray T-shirt dress and windbreakers as everyday wear (because one never knows with today’s weather mayhem when a hurricane could hit).
While many designers have tried this season to do pinafores, The Row succeeded in making one a stylish woman would want to wear in black over an oversized white T-shirt. Mostly working in neutrals, they did sprinkle in flashes of cobalt, orange and red, like garnishes on a seaside cocktail. And little extras, like gold toe rings on freshly pedicured feet, and high-crown sun hats added notes of whimsy.
The collection proved the Olsens helped set the bar for quiet luxury during a year when fashion can’t stop screaming about it.
To top it off, they had the best fashion week goodie bag in a long while. As guests spilled outside into the courtyard to leave, waiters were at the ready with fresh produce in farm boxes served on silver platters, natch, and brown paper bags to fill up. Juicy figs, brown cherries, cherry tomatoes and green peas were a taste of the simple luxuries of summer which, like the collection shown, will linger long after.
