Hoyeon Jung Answers Your Burning Questions as an “International Woman of Mystery”

Since bursting onto screens last year with her unforgettable performance as the North Korean defector with a mysterious past in Squid Game, Hoyeon Jung has become one of the most thrilling new actors of the moment—and now, she’s making a new debut, as Vogue’s February cover star. But the former model and current Instagram sensation has versatility up her sleeve, too. No more so than in the playful video she appears in for Vogue, directed by Christine Yuan, in which she appears as a mysterious cat burglar stalking an industrial building in the heart of Los Angeles.

“With every new mission I can become someone new,” she says, before adding, in Korean: “You understand, right?” The cryptic questions reveal tantalizing answers which blur the line between reality and fiction. “Excuse me miss, would you like to play a game?” the rumbling British voice asks to kick off proceedings. “How well do you know the international woman of mystery, Hoyeon?” Remember her red hair from her modeling days? “It looked cool,” says Jung. “But I don’t want to hold onto the past.” Finally, are her strong emotions, caring nature, and loyalty all attributes she’d ascribe to being a Cancer? “But almost a Gemini,” says Jung. “I like to have fun!” That, we certainly don’t doubt.
