Cos Returns to New York Fashion Week

Cos once again returned to New York City to showcase its fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection. “We think it’s such an inspiring place. So many exciting people and so dynamic,” Cos creative director Karin Gustaffson said before the show Tuesday.

The London-based fashion brand, known for minimalism, took the city as inspiration literally, setting up shop at the Manhattan Classic Car Club, a private establishment on the Hudson River with sweeping views of the water and — considering all the rain at NYFW — one of the few clear sunsets of the week.

“Autumn/winter, we sort of looked a lot into different methods in terms of construction,” Gustaffson explained of the 43-look collection for both women and men. “So there’s some deconstructed elements, especially in womenswear. And I would say the silhouette, it’s quite statuesque and quite strong for women.”

The show debuted the fall 2023 Cos Atelier collection, marking the third capsule of its kind. Pieces from capsule collection included an intricate hand-knit crochet look featuring Responsible Mohair Standard mohair, while another look had delicate leather tassels adorning wool outerwear, made from off-cut materials.

The connection to New York is more than just the runway show. This year, Cos is partnering with Materials for the Arts, a program of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and the City’s premier creative reuse centers, which provides nonprofits, public schools, and City agencies with access to free materials.
