At 69, Carine Roitfeld Is a Late Bloomer

WHAT’S IN A NUMBER?: Carine Roitfeld, who celebrated her 69th birthday on Wednesday night during Paris Fashion Week, is a late bloomer extraordinaire.

She started smoking only five years ago, got her first helix piercing in 2022, and her first tattoos only five months ago — delicate doodlings on her wrists and fingers.

“It keeps me young,” she said as guests poured into subterranean nightspot Raspoutine for a dinner and party. “I’m glad to be 69, and I’m happy to tell my age. But maybe I’ll stick with it for some time because I think it’s a great number.”

Matthew M. Williams, Alexandre Mattiussi and Peter Dundas, minus his signature curls, mingled with the likes of Eva Longoria, Poppy Delevingne and Michel Gaubert.

While she doesn’t describe herself as a late bloomer, Lisa Rinna only made it to the cover of a magazine at age 59 — Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book.

Rinna said she’s never been secretive about her age, but has had a few trepidations since turning 60.

“You know what I don’t like?” she asked. “Because I’m an actor, whenever they print my picture now they also put my age. They never did it that much before, or maybe I’m just seeing it more now. I do not f—ing like it!”

“I’m a late bloomer in horticulture,” Honey Dijon confessed. “I love flowers. I’m starting to get into it.”

Peonies are Dijon’s specialty so far. And her main gardening tip? “Moisture,” she purred.

Williams, who designed the black Givenchy couture gown Roitfeld wore for the evening, said he also recently started flexing his green thumbs.

“It was something to take care of during COVID,” he said. “I have a little balcony and I grow cherry trees, strawberries for my daughters, which they love, lavender, some herbs — and roses.”

Smoked salmon and caviar potatoes were served by waiters wearing black organza masks, while dancers roamed around in sexy black outfits to rival the Crazy Horse.
