These Beauty Creatives Are Making the Coquette Trend a Nail and Makeup Affair

Fashion’s pink, pearly renaissance has made its way to beauty.

The “coquette” aesthetic, characterized by its hyperfeminine flair and romantic accents like ribbons, lace and bows, has had its clutches on Gen Z and Millennial style since the fall, and is now spawning a wave of equally whimsical beauty looks.

“Coquette embraces the femininity and the little girl in me,” said Portland, Ore.-based makeup artist Chime Dolker (@_chimedolker), who used About-Face Fluid Eye Paints and Juvia’s Place liquid blush to paint an intricate, pink bow on her nose, the centerpiece of a look that comprised equally flushed cheeks, lips and eyelids. “Putting a little pink bow on things — including my face — brings back the joy of femininity and the delicate feeling in everything around us.”

Taking a cue from the Simone Rocha fall 2023 show, Dubai-based Hala (@beautybyhala_), donned ribboned and gemstone-adorned eyelids in a recent look, saying “It’s fun to embrace a soft, cute and feminine side.”

And while California-based nail artist, Alizé Zamora typically finds herself gravitating toward cyber, alternative designs, the appeal of coquette lies in “how welcoming it feels.” One recent set of hers featured French pink tips, heart-shaped pearl arrangements and a ring-finger cherub embellishment to top off the look.

Here, a glimpse into the dreamy canvas of coquette-inspired beauty.
