Aviclear Laser, ‘Facial Balancing’ and Cherry Perfume are Among Beauty’s 10 Fastest Growing Trends

Some of beauty‘s biggest trends are evolving, as new treatments and products emerge.

Case in point: while the “skinification” of hair has been a prevalent theme for more than a year, Spate reports that consumers are increasingly seeking out Japanese head spas, which not only cleanse and deep condition the hair, but feature scalp massages that target pressure points in order to promote blood circulation.

Similarly, searches for hair primers have begun to soar, with Amika’s sister brand, Eva NYC, driving much of that interest with its Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer.

In terms of skin care, while searches for acne treatments and services are still nascent, Aviclear Laser has emerged as a frontrunner, garnering 2,900 average monthly searches — up from roughly 700 monthly searches the year prior. Other treatments are “beginning to break through the noise as consumers search for more information and look to educate themselves on the different treatment options,” said Spate president and cofounder Yarden Horwitz, pointing to BioRePeel as a rising example. While red light therapy doesn’t quite crack the top 10 in terms of year-over-year search growth, it is still “seeing considerable growth for its size” at 219,800 monthly searches, a 34 percent increase.

“Facial balancing” has emerged as a defining theme of the facial injections boom, referring to the ethos of using injectables to “balance,” one’s facial proportions.

Meanwhile on the heels of both the cherry perfume craze and TikTok’s mounting obsession with food-inspired beauty looks, #CherryColaLips became a thing in December, peaking at 2.7 million TikTok views during the week of Dec. 24 and fueling interest in cherry lip gloss.

Growing demand for water-based foundation and milky toners — the latter of which Ilia Beauty has most recently gotten in on — demonstrate consumers are gravitating toward more lightweight products, Horwitz said.
